I am trying to hang garland outside. My house has aluminum siding. It also has a porch with columns. I want to swag it from column to column. I tried Command Hooks but they fell off. The garland is too heavy. Any ideas?

Please don’t hang Garland, she’s my friend!

^^ bwaahaahaahaaaaa!!!

Can you take pieces of thin wire, wrap it around the garland at the point that is to be at the top of the column, and then wrap the wire around the top of the garland? You would need a fairly large piece of wire.

What is the column made of? Can you put a nail in the top of the column to wrap the wire around?

That’s what I do. A long piece of florist wire, wrapped around the garland where I want to attach it. I leave enough wire “rabbit ears” to wrap around the pillar. Unless the pillars are perfectly straight all the way down and there is a railing, this works. I also keep the wire on the garland from year to year in order to save some aggravation.

Haha – that is the first thing that came to my mind. :)

Mine too! I cackle every time I glance at the thread title.

And to think the OP said that Garland was too heavy! ;)

Great minds think alike (or at least CC parents do - same thing perhaps?). I was going to post “what did poor Garland ever do to you” but I see I was beaten to it.

(dkitty - there is a longtime CC poster named Garland, in case you think we’ve all gone nuts)

Another vote for florist wire type stuff - you can usually even find it at the dollar store - it’s my go-to for all stuff outside - Christmas stuff - typing garden plants etc.

Florist wire is great and also available at Michaels. How about those screw in cup holders with the open loop? They come in white, silver and brass or you could paint them the color of your pillars.

Heyy…!!!

Seriously, just saw this and laughed out loud!(I mean, I know I tick people off sometimes…) :)

Okay, I know I have a weight problem… :/

You only have a weight problem if it takes more than a spool of florist wire to hang you from the porch.

Seriously LOL’d, EPTR. (though I wouldn’t want to test that specification, actually…)

Lol…as I was typing the title I was thinking of you Garland. I knew you would pop in!

We hang garland from our stair rails (sorry but I just had to type that).

We light Garland up.

I had the same reaction!!
Happy holidays, garland!
