Dressing as a cat, probably.

Handing out no treats because we haven’t seen a trick or treater here for at least 5 years.

The indignity!!!

We moved this past weekend but I’m going back for one last hurrah of passing out at our old house where we get lots of trick or treaters. Treats this year include packets of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate, mini-bags of Oreos, Rice Krispie treats (packaged not homemade). I’m also going to have a big basket of beanie babies for kids to take one because MOVING and getting rid of stuff!!

I did choose an orange/yellow dress with black sweater to wear to work today with black leggings and black shoes.

Love Halloween!!! It’s gonna be a COLD one here in Northern Ohio. 38 at 6pm, the start of T or T.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN :jack_o_lantern:!

No dressing up but our neighborhood kid count is way up after a lull for a few years.

Candy offerings this year are Swedish Fish, KitKats, Twix and Reese’s. We do the full size bars and I usually stash one or two Reese’s in the freezer. :ghost:

This was last year on Halloween…

Only the dog dresses up now but we will probably get hundreds of trick or treaters later so it will be a busy evening.

Love the pet shots. Kids in costumes are so 2000’s.

I’ve posted pictures of Pumpkin Man while he was inside our house. Now he’s moved outside. And H got our kids’ pups a costume. I don’t think they are fans lol.

The busiest Halloween street in town is 3 houses away (very hilly town, street is 2 miles with no hills). This year they are shutting it down to traffic and there will be police and lights, I’m expecting even more than usual. It’s funny, the rest of town seems to be angry/jealous, but since it’s a known popular TOTing area, home owners stay home to give out candy, so it’s just easy for the parents and kids.

As we’ve done for the past eight years since moving to this house, we’ll return to our old neighborhood to catch up all evening with our old neighbors as we sit in a half-circle around a chiminea in one of their driveways and pass out candy. Not sure we’ll need to light a fire though as it’s going to hit 81 degrees today.

I went to a party at my son’s school last week and parents were encouraged to dress up. Since my son is a Dalmatian this year I dressed as a Dalmatian, too. As soon as I put the costume on I realized my mistake. I’m not a small woman…I cannot tell you how many people assumed I was dressed as a cow. :unamused::grimacing::sob:

Lots of new families in the neighborhood the last couple of years. I do miss carving pumpkins with my own kids.

I’ll be handing out candy. Last year we got a decent amount of trick or treaters, but we were turning out the lights at about 7:15. All the kids seemed to come between 6 and 7. I wonder if it will be the same today…
Last year was the first year that our next door neighbors decided to go all out decorating so maybe that brought more kids to our cul de sac.
Most of the kids in our neighborhood are beyond trick or treating age. Though some younger families with little kids have moved in behind us and down at the end of the street. There are some neighborhoods near us that go all out on Halloween. Word is that they’re brining in food trucks this year, so I think that draws away trick or treaters from our neighborhood…

We had breakfast at our office this morning and most of the young engineers dressed up. I have a coworker that brings her dog to the office and this was the pup’s costume.

Very few trick-or-treaters in our San Diego neighborhood. Husband is going to a party in a very busy neighborhood - I’m staying home because (1) hate crowds and (2) dealing with a temp crown so am being very cautious on eating and would have to skip the pizza there. So when he leaves, I will turn off lights and hide in the study streaming shows.

I have dressed up for parties over the years but not of late; not sure what I’d even wear. Our cat had a costume:

Angry about what? Jealous about what? That all the TOTers will go to just one street in town?

Yeah I’m my town in the opposite. Many people in busy neighborhoods (like ours) are aggravated that ā€œothersā€ swarm the neighborhood.

We used to get over a thousand kids. It’s dwindling I think mostly because the city puts on a big celebration in one location. We still get tons - enough to go through 15-20 pounds of candy. And there’s no answering the door. It’s a constant stream, so we just sit on the porch until we run out. But in the day, they would be lined up from the street up our walk, up two flights of stairs to our porch almost the entire time.

Tonight it’s cold and rainy so we will see. Not really looking forward to sitting outside that long. I think I’ll bring my heating pad and a blanket.

We have that kind of neighborhood too. It’s constant. It’s snowing though so maybe fewer will be out this year. I’m also going to bundle up and sit in the porch otherwise the doorbell is too stressful for my dog.
