Tonight we went over to Coronado to the Hotel del Coronado, where Chabad of Coronado was hosting Chanukah on Ice. With an five foot tall ice carving menorah. The first candle was lit by the Jewish chief of police.

Happy Hanukah to all! I am feeling giddy with blessings that I’m considering my Hanukah gifts this year. First, I’m in Hawaii with dh and all 3 “kids” vacationing. Then the gift that occurred in the south last night felt like a Hanukah miracle (hope I’m not being too political). And then, I’m a college advisor who volunteers with two organizations that work with first gen high school seniors and one texted me two days ago that she was accepted to Stanford and another shared that she was accepted to Mills College which is her first choice. As long as full need accompanies their acceptances (fingers crossed, particularly at Mills), I really just can’t ask for more! So thrilled for my students 
Hanukah has already been very good to me! Hope it is for everyone else too!

I have to admit that after 20+ years in the U.S. I’m still confused about its spelling. Does it depend on the region you grew up in or your branch of Judaism?
Spelling is a personal choice really. I grew up with Chanukah and still prefer it. But my brother spells it Hanukkah now, as did my mother for several years.
I will say it is hard to find Chanukah cards vs Hanukkah cards.

Yucca, I grew up with Chanukah, but trend seems to have moved to Hanukkah. I think the people making cards like the double HH As in Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah to all my CC girls. When I was texting my girls on Tuesday night after the race was called, older d texted back that it was a Hanukkah miracle!! Great minds think alike.
