TBH, DD applied last minute, on a whim. She was lucky to have some amazing acceptances but there were two schools she really should have gotten in to and did not. Now that she knows more about Harvard, it is a good fit for her. That is what you need to make sure to look for. Find schools that offer your area of interests, in a region you would like to be, in a size and energy you want. We have so little control of where we are accepted that we need to remember there are multiple places that we can love.
Work hard and keep your grades at the top. Follow your interests. Don’t participate in activities just to clutter your resume. Commit to a few things you really enjoy, are really interested in. Become an expert. Become passionate. Harvard and any top schools are looking for students working to make their community better. Remember, though, the odds of being admitted are very, very slim. Don’t value yourself by whether or not you get in to a certain school.
