Happy Pi Day!

In honor of all of us who have math geek sons/daughters, Happy Pi Day!!

I thought it was the 16th- no wonder I have trouble with my homework :p

astro, I sent emails to the DDs early this am. From early on, Pi Day was a holiday celebrated with everyone’s favorite pies.

To you as well!

My local Costco was out of pies, and I was too tired to bake my own, so we celebrated with Costco’s fruit tart  Yummy. D hates math, but has always brought pies to school on Pi day!

Happy Pi day, everyone!

Happy Pi Day!

My hs senior is celebrating in both her math classes - she made a Lemonade pie.
My college junior is celebrating - there are tables set up outside the dining hall with pies - all kinds and they are free!

My D reports she is wearing her Pi shirt today. And says she had to correct someone who thought that 8 came after the 9. (I’s a 2).

Aw, good old pi day. I remember at my sons’ old high school, they would have an assembly on pi day, and have pie eating contests. It was a big mess, but a lot of fun.

My sons’s HS math club members make whipped cream (and some vegan) pies, sell them to other students who get to throw them at some willing teachers today (outside, of course). The enitire school gathers to watch. These teachers earn their pay today, that’s for sure.

Dang- I wanted to start this thread.
Pi day is the best part of math class.
Sadly, our new school doesn’t celebrate it…

I mentioned Pi Day to H. he rattles off the first (8) digits of pi. The smart alec. So I ask him, what’s our anniversary? He got it, but he had to think about it for awhile.

We have an old license plate that says 314PIE, the kids brought it in every year to school on pi day. The teachers loved it. The best part is we got the license plate randomly at DMV and were jumping up and down at how cool it was. I don’t think the DMV person got it.

Ahem. Some of us are geeks who celebrate Pi day ourselves  Dinner tonight will be quiche!

OD’s math teacher is awarding extra credit points based on how many digits of pi a student can recite.

My D knows 150 or 160 (she’s forgotten a few, I think.) I thought it was a lot, but there are kids who know many more than that! We keep telling D it is not a fact she should brandish around, but she is quite proud of being a pi geek.

^^wow, I just know a few
Daughter took apple pie to school today, son refuses to participate in such “childish” activities (he, he, I am sure he is not going to refuse the pie if one comes his way:-)

Hey, does anyone celebrate Avogadro’s Day?

Happy Pi Day from this house of nerds!

Sadly college S is home on spring break, so no celebrations at his geeky U. But they will have the Pi Run after spring break. Darn that school calendar…

My W sent Marie Callender’s gift cards to each D (CS majors) and just made us a lime pie. Any excuse for a pie is a good one.

ucsducladad, the pie gift cards are a great idea! Would you mind if I borrow it?

ucsducladad…it only counts if you posted all those digits from memory!!!
