Happy Valentines Day!! Any special plans or traditions?

We are off to a dim sum breakfast/brunch and then the gym. My, how romantic, LOL. What are the rest of you doing?

Snow is coming down at a pretty good clip at my house, so an indoor day here. Spending some time with a good book, some with the DVR, and some with a new recipe for ham & gruyere quiche. Finishing the evening with the delightful characters of Downton Abbey. Happy Valentine’s Day!

We are going to the beach at my cousins’s place and joining them for lunch, too. then tonight dinner out as its my Hubby’s last night in Florida.

Spent the weekend in Charleston SC. Would’ve been romantic except we had two teenage boys in tow.

I politely declined gong for a walk with DH this morning. It’s now warmed up to a balmy 36 degrees. Brrrr. I’d rather be back on the ski slopes.

We prepared for a day inside seeing that with windchill it is just about -27 OUCH. Highly unusual for our area. Hubbie made me breakfast and sent me an electronic card lol (most likely forgot to go to get one but not a biggie for me). I usually do boiled lobsters but couldn’t find larger ones at a decent price so I bought four tails and I’ll attempt lobster carbonara for the first time tonight. As a gift to me, he’ll try to finish up painting the finished basement; dinner is my gift to him. We’re not much for big presents or spending any real money for VD.

H always buys me a box of chocolates. Yum!

Later today we are meeting his brother and wife and going XC skiing. Not very romantic but it’s what we wanted to do.

I always get chocolate too.

Given the temps this weekend, we opted to make dinner at home. We went shopping yesterday and will have our nice dinner tonight.

Heading out to a widow/widower group brunch; this evening I will open a Napa Cab we bought on our 30th anniversary trip and do some reminiscing.

So sorry, mominva. How long has it been?

Thank you; coming up on 4 years in May.

Restaurant were booked for tonight and last night , so we will be eating at home. We picked up some shrimp and lobster tails that H will cook.

We went out last night instead. It’s cold out today so we’ll hang tight at the homestead, I’m having a visitor arrive in a few hours for the night. We joked about our valentine’s for 3.

It’s really cold over here in NoVA. We are expecting snow all day tomorrow.
Staying warm in the comfort of our home enjoying a hot cup of tea.
Today is a day to pamper dd.

Got her beautiful tulips, cute valentines day balloons, and prepared her a special breakfast consisting of Danish pancakes (shaped like cake pops) with strawberries and blueberries. Will go out for a late casual lunch too when it is warmer.
Plan to watch the Valentines day movie with her later in the day. Got her a cute card, chocolates, and a small present.
Main thing is she feels pampered and happy.

Planning on just having a relaxing day.
I got this message that I wish to forward to all of you.

"I wanted to send you a note to wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you are spending time with someone special, with friends, or even on your own, I hope you have a fabulous day! And remember that love comes from many different places – so even if you don’t have a special Valentine this year, think of all the love that you already do have in your life! "

I like that message, raclut!

H and I got engaged on Valentine’s Day, so we always try to do something. D is going to a sleepover at a friends, so H and I are heading out to dinner and I am kidnapping him to a hotel. I bid on Hotwire without knowing what I would get for the first time ever and it should be ideal. Then tomorrow we are back at the “all D all the time” way of life until graduation.

So it seems like the Galentine’s Day tradition is slowly gaining traction. Anyone’s daughters do anything yesterday for it? Mine did.

My D went to a Galentine’s Day Brunch yesterday hosted by a close friend. The guest list was evenly split among those otherwise unattached and attached to significant others or spouses! She said it was a lot of fun.

We intentionally stay away from restaurants today and focus on calling each other annoying over the top endearments. It’s a gorgeous 80 degrees in So Cal so it’s outside I go to garden with my most precious cupcake.

Awww … I wish I had a precious cupcake to garden with. (Maybe I should get a cat.)
