Went out on Friday – couldn’t get a reservation on Saturday or today. Hubby supplied smoked salmon and bagels foe breakfast, and chocolate and flowers. I supplied more chocolate and home made pad thai for dinner. Oh, and he supplied birthday cake (my birthday). D1 declined to come for dinner because… she was cooking dinner with her bf. Ah, good excuse!
We went to our French Local Asian fusion multi-course dinner, absolutely delicious. No wine because the need to drive and where we live in Asia the legal limit is crazy low with a big fine. It was so good. Mmmmmmm. It is our daughter’s birthday and after a Thai dinner with her boyfriend (that my husband funded on the side) they went out for red velvet cupcakes at a nearby bakery. Red velvet was always her cake, being a Valentine baby. So great on so many levels.
The dinner was lovely. Not a peep from the staff about not calling back about the reservation. Do they read CC? 
We got a wonderful table with the view of the lake. I should have said no to the bred basket, but Mr. insisted. It means I will have to do some serious damage control tomorrow! I have to admit that after several years of mostly clean cooking, restaurant food - even the upscale stuff - looks too greasy and oily.
