<p>I wonder if anyone has negative experience with them ? I see a set for sale at Costco and like the colors. More importantly, I find they are lighter than the soft sided ones. </p>

<p>I haven’t used hard-sided luggage in years because I like soft-sided better. I think they hold more because the sides will conform to the contents (shoes especially). My biggest have a zipper that goes all the way around that lets the whole suitcase expand by 3" or so. For me the weight isn’t important because the contents weigh much more than the suitcase anyway.</p>
<p>And when you need to squish something under your seat or in the overhead bin, soft-sided is much easier to work with.</p>
<p>My husband prefers hard sided (thinks his stuff is less likely to get crushed). The suitcases do crack after several uses. I used to buy “good” ones. They break just as easily, so I now buy them at TJ Maxx.</p>
