hard time choosing where to go

My sister got accepted to UCLA, Johns Hopkins, and University of Washington @ Seattle Honors College. I know all three of those schools are amazing, but she’s pretty much decided to not go to JHU because she wants to be closer to home.

She’s out of state for both UCLA and UW Honors, so the price of both colleges is a pretty important factor.
UCLA gave her a 22,500 total in scholarships (including federal aid) so the cost she’s looking at right now for them is like 30,000.
UW’s scholarship was about 8,500 (including federal aid) which stinks because their cost now is around 33,000.

Her EFC was $0, so we were really hoping for more aid. She only got her acceptance to UW honors college today and I know that the honors college offers merit scholarships to students.

How would she find out if she got a merit scholarship? Would it have come in the mail by now, or does UW email you to let you know

BTW, she’s pre-med

If her EFC is $0, how, just exactly, does she propose to come up with $30k each year for UCLA or UW? She needs to find a place that is affordable for her. Neither of these are. Did JHU offer her any aid? Is she still waiting to hear from any other colleges or universities?

JHU is more expensive than both schools unfortunately so that was out from the start. UW has a payment plan for her-- basically a bunch of loans that’ll help her take out and a work study.

This is pretty much why we’re holding out for the uw honors scholarship. She’s been saving for college since freshman year doing odd jobs and etc. and currently has 20,000 in savings.

Not sure why she even applied to OOS publics with a zero EFC. Did JHU meet her need?
