<p>Given by the discussion on this board, and some of the stats that I have seen, all the top 10 of BA/BFA theater programs that require an audition are very hard to get into, Numbers range from 18/500 to 62/1200 and so on depending on the program. They are all very competitive and have hundreds of applicants every year. I don’t think that 21 would be regarded in any way as a mature student and in fact may even be an asset if you can demonstrate a level of maturity and an approach to acting that reflects added experience and knowledge. This is definitely the case for Juilliard who only accept about 10% of applicants who are straight out of high school. You would have to come to the USA for auditions, but fortunately they are all at the same time of year and can, probably, all be scheduled for the same geographic location.

<p>If you do have a couple of university years under your belt, depending on the subjects, grades and credits, some universities like UCLA, may allow you to transfer into their Junior (3rd) year.</p>
