Hardest Class You've Taken At UCLA

What is the hardest course you have completed at UCLA?

For what reason was it difficult? (high workload, difficult exams, terrible professor, lack of interest)

math 32a.

biskup was the worst professor ever.
he failed 47 people in a class of 150.
he decided to make the class more difficult after failing most of the class on a idterm.
he regularly gave out nightmare homeworks in which the tas and himself couldn’t do some of the problems.
he refused to let us take notes during office hours.
he gave basically no partial credit.

therefore, it is because of a terrible professor, who gave out insane and tedious homeworks and exams and had a ridiculous grading scale.

next time i see him, im going to smack that fat ■■■■■■■

how hard are the physics classes? i would have regretted taking physics c had i not learned that ucla only has calculus based physics

nooo south campus so nothing truly hard

i took history 97, which is an intensive seminar for history majors. there were 5 papers, 6-8 pages on boring topics.

haha, moldau, I’ve a friend who failed that exact class; and another one who got an A in it. (god knows how)

I also know another insane person who took that class, got a B, and now is taking 32B with the same professor so that he can try to get an A and get his so called revenge on him.

People these days…

chem20A w/ Lin
High workload, (worksheet due every lecture + problem set due every week)
New concepts that I wasn’t expecting from the intro chem class (a lot of quantum chem)
Lin had a really thick accent so I couldn’t understand anything he was saying for the first two weeks
but I had an awesome TA, plus Professor Lin was awesome too. I would consider taking chem113a with him (but would most likely drop it by week 2 :stuck_out_tongue: )
Eh, I guess it wasn’t too bad, just caught me by surprise

I actually heard about Professor Lin (I’m still a senior in high school). One of my friends who currently attends UCLA told me about a time where the prof was talking about how electrons in certain situations will ‘fork,’ but his accent made it sound like the electrons will ‘eff’ and the whole class gasped.

I have been fortunate to have professors that are fair, meaning that if i put in the time i got the grade i wanted.

I had a bad TA for a easy class, i ended up dropping that class and found a class i really like.

If i saw any teacher that fuc@@d me over, i would slap them to maybe trip them or something but i am sure it will never come to that.

CS33 with rohr.

it’s cs33

rohr’s teaching it

CS 181 with Prof. Greibach. It’s the only Computer Science class I’ve ever disliked from day one. Useless theorical material with almost no applications to programming, monotonous lectures, homeworks that require ridiculous proofs, and a harsh curve.

What was the solution then? How could he grade it if he could not solve it?

It’s an advantage.

Smallberg said CS33 was Rohr’s specialty though.

I don’t call that “revenge” haha.

i will second moldau’s comment about biskup, math 32a.

STAY AWAY.

math 132
ee 103

It might be Rohr’s specialty, but that doesn’t mean he’s good at explaining the material.

Who would want to choose Rohr over Smallberg anyways? Have you had him?

CS 33 with Prof. Rohr is the runner up for the hardest class I’ve ever taken at UCLA. So many wasted lines of code. Also, I was using CUSP assembly, which is an even lower-level language than x86 MIPS assembly.

is EE103 that hard? I’m taking it next quarter with EEm16 (CS51A) EE1, Physicsl 4BL. Are any of those classes gonna be really hard?

For now I think CS32 was my hardest class.

For me I’m going to have to say Undergrad Law 171 (I think that was the number, it was Constitutional Law) or possibly Russian History with professor Frank…

My girlfriend wishes to add in Chem 153L as a horrible one.

rasenganx: EE103 is hard…it’s basically a linear algebra class where you are trying to find the best method to solve a specific problem (namely Ax=b), but it’s a bit more complicated than that. Lot of conceptual problems and homeworks are all freaking insane (long and lots of Matlab). The rest of your classes don’t seem that hard…I would advice against taking EE103 right now as it seems you are just starting out…

oceanography, kyte. not an easy class like others said.

Just curious neoa1212, what was it that made oceanography with kyte hard?
