Hardest Classes...Mediocore Grades

What do colleges such as UMich and UIUC think of students who take the hardest possible course load, but recieve mediocore grades (including a few C’s) ?

Well they like the hard course load, but they expect you to make the grade. C’s really aren’t acceptable, unless you have a good excuse. UMich recalculates GPAs, so they won’t put any weight on the more difficult courseload…which IMO, kinda stinks.

How am I suppossed to justify my grades? I have 3 C’s which sucks, but I really didnt deservge any of them but got screwed over between 10-11th :(

Sounds like my high school story :)

yeah, you’re not alone, lol

really? What did you do? I have excellent extracurriculars and good sat scores. What should be my game plan? Do schools like Indiana U Bl and UIUC also really really look down on C’s or are C’s more common place there?

I’m sure if you have high SAT scores, then state schools won’t care as much, as most are number-driven.

If their so number driven wont they see my ok GPA and bad grades? (numbers)?

I know I can go to a good school and succeed, even thought my HS grades dont necessarily reflect that…

You can get into Indiana with a few C’s. It’s not very hard to get into IU, but you get pushed once you get here. You won’t get into Michigan though. UIUC maybe.

For comparison purposes, I got into Wisconsin and that’s harder to get into than UIUC. Michigan is harder than Wisconsin. I was postponed at UW then accepted. Deferred then rejected at Michigan (in-state). I had one C+ the rest A’s and B’s.
