What are the hardest colleges to get into when applicant pool is taken into account? For example, I’ve heard that MIT is harder to get into than stanford, even though it has a higher acceptance rate, because the applicant pool as a whole is more talented
What’s the difference? Admissions to the top schools are all fiercely competitive – at some point it is just splitting hairs. I’d focus more on fit.
Probably The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) Norway. It is located in a settlement called Longyearbyen on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard in the High Arctic. Getting there usually requires a couple days on boat from mainland Norway. I’d say that’s the “hardest college to get in to”. Getting in to a college in the arctic would be tough!

Deep springs isn’t a gag response from me. The standard of applicants must be very high.
