Most language departments offer a degree in “language and literature of x”. In terms of program rigor, workload, demanding professors, etc. (NOT which language is most difficult to learn), which is the hardest? Like, I’ve heard South Asian is supposedly easy due to very generous grading, so what’s the EECS of language/literature majors?

Is this who I think it is . . . .

No, this isn’t a ■■■■■. I’m curious which departments have a reputation for being especially hard or easy, because I have a pretty much equal interest in several world literatures and can’t choose between them.

lol I like your first line…hahaha

lol caiacs. maybe.

Latin or Classical greek would be hardest. They’re dead languages.

The German department is pretty intensive. It’s also the most prestigious language department, being the #1 German department in the nation. It’s not easy, but I’m not sure if it’s the “hardest.”

Latin is fairly easy. In my Latin courses, the Classical Languages majors always complained about ancient Greek (CL is essentially the Greek+Latin major).
