I am having a hard time writing about hardships that I have faced and how winning this scholarship money will help me live my dreams. In general, I write well but have a difficult time writing about such personal matters. I am able to outline my goals clearly but can’t focus on a topic to highlight hardship.
List of possible hardships:
-raised by a father that did not make it past 6th grade and a teenage mother
-my sister is bipolar and after spending 5 years incarcerated, she is now paroled.
-I took undergraduate classes but always had to work and never could devote time to school
-Diagnosed with PTSD & panic attacks after being assaulted in a foreign country
-For years, my mother was the sole breadwinner in a family of 5. She made 25k a year.
-I was homeless for 9 months as an adult and slept either at my work, in a youth hostel or in a friend’s camper.
-I ruptured 3 disks in my lumbar spine 10 years ago
Any thoughts on what direction to pursue?
