A true giant in the world of comedy: Animal House, Ghostbusters, Stripes, Groundhog Day, Meatballs, Caddyshack, NL Vacation … Sad day.

There are so many big laughs in all these movies. Here’s a personal favorite. Near the beginning of Stripes, when Russell is teaching adult ESL, he asks the class to say any English words that they already know. The burst of obscenities that follows still makes me smile.

And say what you will about Animal House – raunchy, sexist – it is still the best of all the Lampoon movies. “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”

Thanks, Harold.

Sad.

R.I.P. One of my favorites. :(

D2 is quite upset about this, given Stripes is probably her favorite movie (and she is a movie snob).

Too young. I liked his allergist role in as good as it gets…

He was a very gifted man. Stephen Tobolowsky (Ned. RYERSON!) has a wonderful piece about him in slate.com today. <a href=“Harold Ramis: Stephen Tobolowsky remembers the Groundhog Day director.”>http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2014/02/harold_ramis_stephen_tobolowsky_remembers_the_groundhog_day_director.html

Groundhog Day has always been one of my very favorite movies. Thank you for making it, Harold.

Frazzled1, great link.

Thanks.

I actually heard on the news today that he and Bill Murray did finally make up after all those years of not being on speaking terms. Bill actually visited Harold somewhat recently and they put their differences to rest. Am so glad this happened.

Thats good to hear.
I didnt know they had a falling out, but years ago I had a friend who had caddied for Murray and he had some stories.

Love Toblowsky.
Great writer.
Read Dangerous Animals.

Ramis reminded me of my dad, could have just been the glasses, but I really enjoyed his work.

From the Redditt AMA( ask me anything)
