Harry and Meghan are having a baby!

.
“When you are not drinking at a reception then it is kind of obvious”

Lol. You’d think half the members of my family was pregnant then. We just aren’t big drinkers. Not unusual not to drink at a wedding for us.

It was nice to see a news item that actually brought a smile to my face!

For those of us who rarely drink, us not drinking is not a reliable sign of anything, no matter how festive the event.

Ah, but for those that do, it can be a tell-tale sign! We always joked that we’d know when my DIL was pregnant because she would not be drinking…she surprised us all because when we were out to dinner when she would have known but we didn’t, she ordered a drink, looked to take a couple of sips and then left it for my S to finish  They told us right before Passover and her mother and I conspired to fill a bottle of Manishewitz with grape juice so it wouldn’t be obvious to others since they weren’t ready to share the news just yet!

IDK about the drinking thing. One of H’s nieces was in early pregnancy ( not telling anyone yet) at a family reunion last year and successfully hid the no drinking. And she normally drinks quite a bit!

Once I went to work with a coworker and she ordered milk to drink. I suspected she was pregnant, and it turned out that she was. In any case, I’m pleased for them.

I hope they didn’t announce it as a toast. “Hey, Eugenie, congrats and all, but you are moving to #10 in line. ‘Queenie Eugenie’ is not happening.”

Consulting that reliable source, The Daily Mail, I see

So how come a new baby girl couldn’t be Baroness Kilkeel or Countess of Dumbarton? How does this work anyway?

LOL. Doubtful, since at #6, Henry IX ain’t happening either.

I don’t think the daily mail is a reliable source…

@TheMoreYouKow It’s been officially announced.

But the press office at Buckingham Palace is:

“exciting only if you’re English or an Anglophile, I imagine”

Nah, I just enjoy attractive people and their cute children looking chic for my amusement. I think if I WERE English, then I wouldn’t have any fun with them, since I would be a small-r republican and griping about where my tax dollars go.

My favorite clothes to look at are dressy day outfits, like garden party, fancy luncheon, power meeting, etc. We don’t get nearly enough of those from the Hollywood crowd. All the European royals live in those clothes.

They got married on the last day of my spring retreat. They announced the pregnancy on the last day of my fall retreat. If anyone is joining a pool to predict the birthdate, I’ll let you know as soon as I can make reservations for my spring 2019 retreat…

I am a pedi nurse and would never go anywhere where there was zika if I was pregnant or planning a pregnancy I have seen the results. Never worth that chance. and the mosquitos don’t care if she is a royal.
Happy for them. it will be fun to see just like William and Kate

…and now, Meghan just had a baby shower that allegedly may have cost almost $500k. While I’m of the opinion that, as long as they (or somebody else), are spending their own $ for something like this, I do think it is an obscene affront to the people and charities they ‘support’, spending this much $, to celebrate the impending arrival of a child who will want for nothing in his/her lifetime. If she really needed to go all out, at least don’t make such a public spectacle.

Well, $250K of it was the private jet she took each way to NY.

She actually flew over here first class on commercial British Airways flight. Had one of those roomy cube things and boarded privately. Sad that I know this detail, some entertainment show must have been on while making dinner. Not that I watch them on purpose…

@MomofWildChild “Well, $250K of it was the private jet she took each way to NY.”

Oh, well that’s ok then (kidding!) - now it’s only a $250K baby shower, LOL! :))

And to think they could have paid some student’s full 4 year tuition/room/board somewhere. 8->
