Harvard as a safety school?

<p>Are there any high school HUMAN students that are awesome enough to achieve this? By human, I mean normal students, without Edward Cullen pulling the strings (Twilight readers will know what I mean), without magical or brainwashing abilities, and without IQs of 170+, as in the case of Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter (appealing to BBT fans).</p>

<p>The Valedictorian of my graduating class applied to MIT, Stanford, Harvard, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Yale. He didn’t have a “safety school”, but he pretty much knew he’d get into at least one. He ended up getting acceptance letters from all but MIT (waitlisted).</p>

<p>This kid had a 4.0 GPA (on a 4-point-scale), 2390 SAT score, took 12 AP exams all with scores of 4-5, was a nationally-ranked gymnast, on varsity football, and interned for NASA.</p>

<p>It made the rest of us look like total slackers.</p>
