Congrats!! That’s great news. So they are already close to the finish line on H. Very good. Also, do you know if one needs to update other, deferred schools, while accepting this final interview request? Thanks for this fine update.
This was just an informal interview—nothing to read into. We understand that most applicants who get an interview aren’t admitted at the end. This is our second time going through the college process. We already have a 2022 HS graduate who is a college sophomore now. Our HS 2022 had an interview with a top school and was not admitted. So far, our HS 2024 child had three interviews, and they were all a great learning experience and very casual. And no, you don’t tell other schools deferred or not if you have interviews with other schools. Again it’s all very casual most of the time.
My son did not get any interview yet. Till when they send out the invitation?
I don’t know how long they do interviews. But I am guessing until at least mid-March. I have read on forums that applicants get contacted for interviews (not specifically Harvard) sometimes just days before decision day, which is more than two months away.
Thanks
Thanks for sharing. All the very best for your HS24!
Our kid’s interview is this week and was scheduled early January after her application and kid has had interviews (5 so far counting this week’s) with lovely alums. None have been in person, not even to the schools we live within 1 hour from…
We interview for our colleges, but they are the same “tier” our kid’s application list. The thought of this little kid going away to college soon is paining me now decision letters are coming in… and kid is talking nonstop about them.
DS just received an interview invitation yesterday, so they are still sending them out!
Hello
Did there anyone apply financial aid ? We did but financial aid portal items don’t appear on our application portal along academic submission.
Does anyone know current Harvard policy on interviews? I know so many schools influx on now they navigate interviews due to application numbers. S24 still waiting and hoping for one.
Don’t stress over financial aid. The question becomes relevant only after they see that the candidate is more desirable than others who are ready to pay full tuition. It’s something to consider even for need blind colleges as there is nothing called need blind. Schools have a budget and they will be highly selective in who gets aid.
My son applied REA, was accepted and received a financial aid offer. It will be provided on the page of the acceptance letter but not in the acceptance letter. In fact you need to have a separate ID created, once accepted, to even access it.
Then, the harvard didn’t display financial status in our application portal , do you mean? Thank you .
That’s correct. It just had the Important dates, Checklist, uploads and add’l recommendations
D24 had her interview this weekend. In person at a coffee shop. Lasted about an hour. Seemed like a fairly casual conversation from what she told us. Was her 2nd interview with a school (1st one was in person as well) and the earlier one she enjoyed and thought went well so she was fairly relaxed going into this one. Has one more to go later this week.
How many percentage of REA, RD applicants get interview? 90% or 20%?
Sorry I don’t know. I can only say that in REA my son did have an interview and it was very quickly scheduled after the submission deadline.
Do colleges still send “Likely Letters” ?
Yale and duke sent this month
Does anyone have insider info on when interview reports are due? Kid has a later one than ideal due to scheduling conflicts. Just curious what hard cut-off is if anyone knows.
