Can one become a botanist with a life sciences degree such as the ones one may obtain from Harvard? Can one become an ethnobotanist with a life sciences degree? I’d also like to know whether Harvard will allow a one to draw up their own ethnobotanical curriculum or not considering they do not have it? Thank you.
Wait until you get there and talk to your advisors. They will be able to help you figure out what courses you’ll need to take.
I’m sure you will have no problem becoming an ethnobotanist if that’s what you want to do.
You can become whatever you want with almost any degree from Harvard. HYPS are liberal arts colleges and as such don’t have pre-professional programs as such. The wonder of these schools is that they have thousands of classes and you can craft any kind of major with almost any kind of concentration. I am sure if botany is your interest, you can take classes in a wide range of subject, including biology, anthropology, etc. Take oxox… advice and talk to your advisor. They are there to help you navigate the wonders of Harvard’s offerings.
Ethnobotany falls under anthropology.
Why not do a Google search with “Harvard” and "ethnobotany as your key words?
