My interview for Harvard is scheduled for this Sunday. My interviewer is a Harvard Law graduate and a successful attorney at a law firm in downtown Dallas. She seemed sweet on the phone… but then again, you never really know on the phone. I’m really not very good with people I’ve never met before. I’ve actually never spoken to an attorney before either, and my friends tell me that they like to interrogate you and pick apart everything that you say. Is that true? AHHHH! I hope she doesn’t ask me what my career plans are either, because I honestly don’t know.
If ANYONE has any tips on how to talk to attorneys, how to defend myself if interrogated, and on college interviews in general, PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU!

She’s there to help you get to know harvard and help harvard get to know you. She’s not getting paid for it so she obviously really enjoys speaking to students. You’re not some murderer that she’s trying to cross-examine, there would be NO reason that her occupation should play into your conversation at all.

Remember, you’re getting interviewed for college, not getting interrogated for a trial. As good as a succesful attorney is at interrogating people, she should be just as good at turning that aspect of her personality off an just being a normal person. Also, you’re assuming she is a criminal attorney. Maybe she works in corporate law or something like that? Remember, she is a professional, so she should be able to separate her work from her other endeavours.

RELAX! Attorneys are people, too, contrary to what is portrayed in the media. You’ll be fine…and if you know what your career plans are at this age, you are certainly in the minority. GOOD LUCK!

haha, thanks for all the replies! I guess I really should stop freaking out so much.

rpproductions… too bad i’m a girl. Do I really sound like a guy in my post? Or is it just a silly assumption, that most of the posters here are guys? Or does “dreamsicle” sound like a guy’s username?
