I’m going to graduate this year from Oxford and after go to work at a mid-sized investment boutique.

Just out of curiosity: Does graduating your BA at only 23 considerably harm your chances to later pursue a Harvard MBA and is working at a good medium sized investment boutique satisfactory? I know that obviously many other factors are involved but I just wanted to enquire about these two.

23 is not young to finish your BA: 22-23 is typical.

Working at a any sized company of any sort is “satisfactory”: it is truly what you do with the experience that will count.

The percentage of incoming students who received their undergrad degrees at least six years ago increased from 20.8 percent in 2011 to 22.9 percent in 2012, and to 23.3 percent this year.

The most dramatic increase in this age group was for students who graduated from college a decade or more ago.

“If you have eight-plus years of experience and you think the MBA has passed you by, it hasn’t,” Kole says. “If you’re a good fit for the school, you can get in.”
