Harvard Med School or MT at U. of Mich. – Which is easier to get into?

I found this rather interesting. Credit to Matthew Edwards.

According to Harvard’s website, Harvard Medical School had 6,614 applicants and admitted 231 for an admittance rate of 3.5%. According to a thread on College Confidential, University of Michigan auditioned 850 students and admitted 22 for an admittance rate of 2.5%. Carnegie Mellon which is rumored to audition around 1,000 students, admitted 12 for a 1.2% admittance rate. I of course know the odds are daunting, but worse than Harvard Medical School??? Well that’s news to me. Now go practice, that’s the only way you are going to make sure you are in the 2.5%!

In all my number crunching over the last year, the BEST odds I could come up with with somewhere close to a 20% acceptance rate. And that number came from some some very small, hardly ever mentioned programs.

Carnegie was over 2,000 this year, they told me at my audition.
