Harvard / NPR poll of Asian Americans

This is part of a series; there were previously released reports of polls of African Americans and Native Americans.

The report on Asian Americans has this tidbit, among other things:

Probably not surprising, since some Indian Americans may superficially resemble African Americans, so they may be targeted by racist-against-black-people people who call police to report a “suspicious person”, or who are police.

Indian-Americans can easily be mistaken for Hispanic, too. Law enforcement personnel who intend to unfairly stop Mexicans can end up unfairly stopping Indian-Americans.

I was thinking Indian Americans may mistaken for Muslim (and many are Muslim). Especially Sikhs.

How do they know it is “because” they are Asian?

It makes me both angry and sad that people are stopped because of the color of their skin. It is reality , but a very shameful one.
