I’ve eaten at several North End Italian restaurants and they were all good. I wouldn’t know to recommend one over another or which one is “best.” If you want to consider French instead of Italian, my daughter says L’Espalier is quite good.

We like [Lucca Restaurant :: Boston’s North End ::](http://www.luccaboston.com/index1.htm) folowed by cannoli from Modern Pastry ([Home](http://www.modernpastry.com/)). (They have valet parking, which might help w/ the crutches.)

I think most people would consider that a significant understatement.

It’s not in the North End, but I was recently lucky enough to have dinner at Sorellina, and it was A. Ma. Zing.

L’Espalier is wonderful, but mortgage your home first
Actually why don’t you try Upstairs on the Square–it is in Harvard Square – wonderful food, great ambience and right near the University. For the best burgers in town-- Bartley’s on Mass Ave across the street from the Yard.

cltdad --not to put the quash on the North end which is a fun place but think it should be pointed out it has very crowded sidewalks on weekends and might be a hard place to negotiate with crutches. Just something to think about. Hope she is better soon.

Any advice for frosh parents re Move out day? Do they bring everything home? Is there a place for them to get boxes so they can be packed up in advance? Am assuming the move outs are staggered and it is less of a production than Move in day was? So hard to believe freshman year coming to a close in about 5 weeks!!!

If you live far enough away from Cambridge (I think it is >150 miles, but I don’t recall), then your student will be able to store a limited number of boxes at their house (not their freshman dorm). I’m sure there will be some posts about it during reading period and finals week.

2b - The kids can store some of their stuff at their House for next year assuming that they live more than 50 miles (I believe) from Harvard. The amount that can be stored varies by house somewhat, but is generally about 6 boxes (I believe @16" per side). There are also companies that offer offsite storage that will deliver boxes and pick them up from the dorms and persumably deliver them to the house next semester. What is not stored usually ends up being donated and resold next fall to incoming students.

The roommates are responsible for making sure that their suite is clean of all stuff. Keep in mind that few of them will be packing during finals period, so most of the “packing” ends up being done on the last day that they will be there.

So do students pack and leave winter clothes?

Yes, and if they’re like my DS they pack and leave their shorts as well. ;)

Hi citidad,
I am a native Bostonian, of 100% Italian descent (and Harvard parent). There is a wonderful small, family run Italian restaurant in the North End which I highly recommend. Here is the website.

[Pagliuca’s Restaurant, 14 Parmenter Street, North End, Boston, MA - 617-367-1504](http://www.pagliucasrestaurant.com/)

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Reservations are a must!

Thank you,Chriscross. We are headed up next weekend for the marathon and will see if we can get in. :)

Hello Harvard parents!

I’m from India and I’ve been accepted for the class of 2015, and I just spent the past week slowly but surely making progress through this thread. Now that I have read all 2852 (now that I think of it, I wonder how I managed to crawl through it all!) I’ll finally be able to do what I’ve been wanting to do ever since I started reading this, which is to say a BIG THANK YOU!! for all the information I’ve gleaned about life and academics at Harvard. Your posts have been ever so helpful, and this thread is just absolutely amazing.
It was an absolutely excellent idea to have one (thank you for starting it guitars!).

I only wish the Princeton parents thread was as resourceful or detailed, but it doesn’t seem to have had much progress and is relatively new.

Anyway, thank you so much again (off the top of my head) guitars, twinmom (you seemed to have an answer to everything!), GaDad (loved your cracks!), justforgetme, sewhappy, fauve, EAO1227, coureur, Hat, smoda, Bay, Ronsard m’aimait, lousyanamom, MSMDAD, DocT, mammal ! :)

(sorry if I forgot anyone…and to all those who are wondering how I could actually remember so many names so soon, yes! I did peek back into the thread so as to not miss anyone! ;)

Pixie - Congratulations on your acceptance!

. . . but now that you’re a Harvard student, I think it may be time to re-evaluate your reading priorities! :)

Haha Gadad, will do. :D

I personally dislike doing a lot of reading on a screen and prefer good old “feelable” books, so I feel quite proud of myself. :p

@perfectpixie - Congratulations on your acceptance!

^Thank you Bubbe! (if I’m not mistaken, you’re the grandmom, right?:))

Congratulations on your acceptance perfectpixie!

WELCOME! and CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance! enjoy every minute of college life. No, I’m not saying to go out and party every night. But, do enjoy everything the college has to offer. the great entertainment by it’s own students, the museums, the lectures etc. It’s an opportunity that most don’t get to experience. Relax and enjoy the ride :)
