Hey, since I haven’t seen anything, I thought I would create this Harvard 2029 waitlist thread. From what I understand the first wave of decisions comes out May 15th. Let me know if anyone has heard anything!
any idea how many they waitlisted this year？
From the research I’ve done Harvard typically waitlists 1000-2000 students depending on the cycle. This year I am assuming the number is closer to 2000 given the situation concerning international students.

Not exactly. Harvard recently released a statement allowing international students to accept both their offer of admission at Harvard and another international school. This is because of the fear of a ruling that international students will not be able to attend US Universities. Therefore Harvard’s yield rate would decrease and they would have to plan to accept more students from their waitlist which could result in a larger waitlist. Additionally, their recent political drama and stripping of funding could further decrease their yield rate, accounting for more involvement of their waitlist.

I’m expecting 0 off this year, although I do hope that’s not the case. Every cross-admit I know is attending Harvard over Princeton, Yale, or MIT. My personal hope is the one kid from my area (similar major) who’s taking a gap year and deferring admission. But yeah, I’m really not expecting any movement at all.
Yes I agree, it seems as though everyone is picking Harvard. Hopefully we will get some clarity by the end of the week.
Anyone hear anything? Also might come tomorrow as they do Fridays sometimes
A counselor at my school called admissions and they said that they are going to have room to take a couple kids this year and that some kids will know by mid may. So something should happen if not today then tomorrow.

Anyone receive calls yet? Came out 5/16 last couple of years with people receiving calls on 5/15

You mean the “ Status Update An update to your application was last posted March 27, 2025.” when you first login to the portal? If so I still have it
