Espinhlh, Congratulations from a parent who has a similar background to yours (immigrant). My DD was admitted to H and P (and others), and had a very difficult time deciding where to go (this was five years ago). It really boils down to where your son is going to be most comfortable and the only way that he is going to be able to decide is by going on campus visits. I would advise you to let him decide and be as supportive as possible, even if you have a preference that is not the same as his.

Quick Question: Where can I find Harvardās immunization form?

[Harvard University Health Services | Health Information and Resources | Find a Form | Immunization Forms](http://huhs.harvard.edu/HealthInformationAndResources/FindAForm/ImmunizationForms.aspx)

thanks for the link!

Hi all, Congrats to all the EA Acceptees. Have two kids at Harvard and D3 got into both Harvard and Yale, ended up going to Yale but have to say no one can beat Hās financial Aide. Yale is twice as much! Glad she likes Yale, but my pocketbook wishes she had followed her Brother and sister and went to Harvard!

D might stay in Cambridge this summer for a 6-week internship. Any suggestions for summer housing options?

Thanks Hat! I had not found that page, and I promise you I tried. Thank you for the advice, too. Do you remember if you got an email confirmation? I missed a digit on the phone number, hit back, and was told Iād already taken the āsurveyā and could not get back in.

I really look forward to the weekend. Any other CC parents attending?

Ronsard-māaimait: We did not get any confirmation either. It was only when I went back to the website and got the message that Iād already taken the survey that I was confident that we had indeed been registered for the event. By the way, our D is in Quincy. Which house is your child in? Perhaps we will meet.

totally off subject⦠my son also lives in Quincy. He loves it btw :)

Hi msmdad and others who replied to may query,

Yes, I agree I will let my son decide. I have bought his air ticket to VISITAS in advance to save. I am also looking into the Harvard financial aid it is affordable. I have started the CSS and FAFSA due Feb 1st. I also see other parents have their kids going to H, and Y. I learn a lot with my son application. I will follow it with my youngest 8th grade daughter.
It is very helpful looking at this thread, so much information and advise.
Thanks

My daughter is in Pforzheimer. Maybe we should have a little identifier for those of us on the forum? A āCCā on the parent badge? Iād love to see who has been giving me all this great advice. Itās hard to believe three years have gone by already.

FYI as another poster said, the financial aid offers vary wildly. MIT had a parent contribution several times what Harvardās was. When I called them, they were willing to discuss how much more our cost of living is than most places, but by that time, my daughter had decided on Harvard. (Sheās never regretted it for a second, either.)

I assume that they will give us Parent of Class of ā13 pins like they did for Freshman Parentsā Weekend. If so, I will wear mine upside down to indicate my CC parent status.

Great idea- much easier than trying to write CC on the badge.

5amriser- There will be many offers for summer sublets and rooms on Craigslist for Cambridge in the coming months. I suggest your student also access any grad school and House e-lists to communicate their need for housing. Harvard offers summer rooms in the DeWolfe apartments to Harvard affiliates, however the rent is hugely expensive, much more than the approx. market rates of 700. to 1200. a month.

I was wondering if there is a direct shuttle from the airport to harvard. I remember someone mentioning this before. My sonās debate partner who is a hs freshman is arriving by a later flight for a debate tournament at harvard and his mom is not comfortable sending him by the T or a cab by himself. If someone here knows of a direct shuttle from the airport to harvard or to the square, i would greatly appreciate the information.

HI! I donāt know of a direct shuttle. Sorry. My son either takes the T or a cab. Someone here might have other ideas. Good luck!

Years ago Harvard ran a shuttle to the airport on the days leading up to winter break as a convenience to students with luggage getting to the airport. I donāt think there is any such shuttle anymore. The Silver Line is actually a bus that leaves from Logan and goes to South station where he can get on the red line (subway) to Harvard. If the kids mom isnāt comfortable with that, the cab is easy, but expensive (figure~$40).

The Silver Line to the Red Line is really very easy, but Iād probably send a HS frosh by cab for the sake of the parentās ease of mind.

Thanks so much for the responses. i will let the mom know.
gadad, I am looking forward to graduation in May. I am planning on arriving on that Monday in May and staying with a friend in Andover for Mon and Tuesday night. It is about a 40 minute commute each way. From your past experience with D1ās graduation, do you think this should be okay? i was planning on staying at a close by hotel on Wed and Thurs.

lousyanamom, My son will also be graduating in May. Wow! where did the time go? itās been a true pleasure being a parent with a student at Harvard. The community in general has been wonderful.
