And here goes #1500 comment… just freaking out the craziness of forthcoming Ivy D Day…
So scary haha
@APersonsHistory You’re calculating Harvard’s rd rate of 2.81% by supposing that they admit the same number of applicants as last year. But if you account for the year over year decrease of the number of people harvard admits (because of the yield increasing) you should get that harvard will admit roughly 980 in the RD cycle much less than last year’s 1013.
And when you take 980/(39044-918-582) * 100 you get approximately 2.61%
So yeah much worse
But I could be wrong you know
@allthingstesla. I think I’ll be doing it alphabetically, as I couldn’t think of any other organized way to do it, so I’ll be doing: Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, Upenn, and Yale.
I’ll print the logos, fold them, put them in a box, then randomly pick Ivies with my family
@MohTamer , it is a really good idea. End of Ivy day is not end of world. Just play for fun.
@APersonsHistory
For those who have not received likely letters the acceptance rate will be even smaller, because apart from the SCEA admits you have to take into account the likely letters sent out. Given that I am applying from outside the US my chances of acceptance are: ~0.9%
Does harvard send out any likely letter? I’m not sure about it.
Anyway, with even 0 % acceptance rate, it’s not equal for all students. If you have something in your application that shows you are a good fit for harvard, your acceptance rate is 90 % or even higher. Don’t lose your hope bc of some meaningless stats
I heard that one kid received one but I am not sure about it
When are the decisions coming out?
Tomorrow at 5 pm EST
I cant wait for my rejection letter !!
Does Harvard usually send out emails like Princeton reminding students of the decision date?
@APersonsHistory by application date, do u mean deadline?
@marebear16 I just edited my post. I mean decision date (tomorrow) to check the portals.
@Monster1997 i know an athlete that got one for cross country
WOOOHOOOO!!! IM SCREWED!!!
My order will be Brown, Yale, then Harvard. Brown first because I figure that I have the highest chance of getting in there. Harvard last because my LL gives me a nice amount of confidence there. Yale in between because I’m preparing for disappointment on that one. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I hope that Ivy Day brings you many open doors, and that any disappointments you face may transform into opportunity with time.
these people nervous about harvard decisions when they’re already accepted to top tier schools and/or received likely letters… smh
@idislikethesats When financial aid doesn’t come through, and your state schools are in danger of revoking one’s scholarships, Harvard becomes one’s safest bet of having a nice cost effective education oddly enough.
