If Harvard comes through. Which it probably won’t, then I’d go without my parents having to pay anything according to their financial aid policy. An even better price then if I go to a city school.
The fact that the fate of where I’ll be spending the next four years of my life will be practically sealed by the end of tomorrow is quite a scary thought.
@Nedcone It’s funny, Harvard is the most affordable option out of all my colleges. I would expect the best college to be more expensive than the rest.
Does anyone think the acceptance rate will drop below 5% this year?
It’s weird thinking that if Harvard rejects me I know where I’ll have to say yes to my safety/target school. I want tomorrow to be a good day but I know I’ll just be worrying about the decision. I already got deferred in December and I’ve been rejected by JHU (which was my #1). I kinda want to know my decision but don’t because right now I can pretend Harvard will accept me, 24 hours from now that daydream might have to end.
I don’t get those who apply to all 8 ivies and one state school, that is just not a safe idea. Why not look at small ivies like Tufts, Wesleyan, Amherst etc.?
A decision is a decision. Once it happens, it is final and there can be a sigh of relief because there is no more uncertainty.
Good luck to all!
The acceptance rate will definitely drop below 5%. It’s pretty obvious bc there are more applicants this year and even Stanford had a 4 point something acceptance rate this year.
@harvard2020babe - Usually Stanford acceptance rates are lower than those of Harvard by a tiny bit.
What time do they come out tomorrow? 5PM EST?
You got a likely from Harvard??
@Chrysanthemum14 Yup.
Just your daily reminder that whatever school you end up at next year will not be the deciding factor in your future. school doesn’t define who you are, YOU define who you are. I have no doubts that all of you will find happiness next year regardless of whether you are at an Ivy League or your state school. Best of luck to everyone.
@Anonymoose3 True but I’m putting my money on below 5% this year bc of the increase of applicants.
RD acceptance rates are already well below 5%…more like 3.8%. Just imagine, more than 96 of every 100 applicants for RD round will be rejected. Wow, that’s a hopeful thought! Even so, some people do win the lottery, but nobody should be surprised if the answer is “no.”
I would take an acceptance to Yale, Columbia, or Harvard over winning the lottery lol
I wouldn’t. Lol elite colleges help you get places, but if you’re already there you don’t need an ivy
Just notice that the acceptance rate is not equal for all students.
Nothing is equal. That’s why sometimes being a URM with great stats help tremendously!
I am Hispanic (from Spain) with 2260 SAT, but I highly doubt that I will get in. While I have helped in my community and done some extracurriculars, what have I to offer Harvard? Nothing. Only they have something to offer me, which is a fine education and a place in their family. If I get an acceptance, I will not have deserved it in the least.
It looks like elite colleges are starting to become as selective as some medical schools. THAT is pretty scary.
Hey guys, kinda late to the party… I’m waiting on Cornell, Harvard, and Yale. Fully prepared to get denied from each and every one of those but I already got into Georgetown EA (which was my #1 apart from the ridiculous reaches like Harvard and Yale) so life is good either way. Good luck to all!
