interesting article, ESPECIALLY the responses garnered from on-line viewers, one of which sounds suspiciously similar to a Harvard ■■■■■ on this forum:

RE: Harvard: Resting on Laurels?
Typical “glass half empty” negativism from the Crimson, which, as usual, is part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

First the Crimson publishes an endless series of whining complaints and “exposes”, deliciously cut-and-pasted everywhere from the Yale Daily News to Matt Drudge’s website, then they whine that Harvard is getting bad press.

He wasn’t at all arguing that Harvard is resting on its laurels. He was arguing its students can get carried away with its prestige, thinking they have made their mark on the world merely by attending Harvard; whereas in fact, all the advantages they receive mean they need to achieve more than other students to consider themselves to have truly made the most of themselves as graduates.

Your thread title is very misleading, therefore.

Harvard is resting on its laurels though. It should have proper tutorials, it easily has the money.

that is the same as resting on one’s laurels.

Ah, but I am referring to students whereas the title refers to Harvard, the institution. So it’s not the institution he’s calling to action, but students.
