How did everyone’s interview go?
good luck @Danishlady !!
@LebronIsTheGOAT my interview went really well! she was fairly young and chill so it was more like a conversation rather than an interview. also, we had similar interests so we bonded over that. where i live there are a lot of applicants so they have to keep the interviews structured so mine was 45 minutes
I haven’t yet got my interview, what is the last possible date I can expect to get an interview? I’m international student in a country with limited interviews.
I really hope I can get an interview this week…Looking at the Harvard club’s website in my region tbh it looks not very active. Though people told me I should work on RD essays now, I have been keeping thinking about it and lil ineffective…
The activity and number of members of local alumni clubs are not related to the number of alumni interviewers. Interviewers separately volunteer.
I haven’t gotten an interview request yet, although I certainly would meet any pre-screening statistics benchmark. Is this cause for concern? Should I begin emailing my local Harvard Club?
The same is happening with me, everyday I think about it and it makes me feel low as well.
Others may have different thoughts on this but to answer your question I say no! Do not call your local Harvard club. Every interaction you have, when you give your name, becomes something that the interviewer can share or write about. I know it’s hard to show patience when you’ve worked so hard in school and especially in getting your application submitted. But in reality, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and yesterday’s holiday admissions has had just 6 business days with many thousands of applications they’ve received by Nov 1st! There’s more than a month before decisions are made. Let the process unfold. I don’t think they have even announced a decision day yet.
edited to add: Things get skewed on a message board. So few are posting so it might seem like “everyone else” is getting contacted. They aren’t. Keep in mind that the school has received 1000s upon 1000s upon 1000s of applications. It’s a process.
Do you guys think that Harvard admissions is really as holistic as they say? I mean I’d hope it is but sometimes I doubt that.
It is what it is. If they’re lying about it, it’s not like you can do anything about it.
When do SCEA or other admissions decisions come out? Is it possible that some students have gotten letters already?
Mid-December. The exact date has not been announced.
No, although recruited athletes may have received a likely letter.
Hello!
I’m an applicant from Iran and my admissions officer contacted me a couple hours ago and offered an interview.
Do you guys have any tip for the interview? I’ve never had an interview conducted over video chat, and I’m a little nervous.
Any help would be appreciated!
For the sake of a fun estimate/wild guess, what % of the people that Harvard plans on interviewing you do guys suspect they’ve contacted?
If not holistic what would it be based on? Solely whoever gets the Highest test scores and GPAs? We know that’s not true because they were sued over that. Bribes? At least so far they aren’t named in that mess. Legacies? The school’s been around 380+ years so admissions really could fill the entire school with generational legacies so that’s not it. SES? They sure give away a lot money in financial aid on the need base only model they’ve structured. Race/Ethnicity? None of the admissions numbers replicate the actual % of folks in the general population so I doubt that’s it. I say holistic.
My son had his interview last night. Do not be nervous. They want to see that you can handle the stress and carry on a normal conversation, not like a Robot. They will ask why you want to go to Harvard and why you want to study your field. Good luck!
Being ranked 43rd is abysmal and you should be embarrassed to even publicize that. You can’t just “found” your own club and name your self “best speaker” and think that’s okay. That is just not ivy league material. Overall, your extracurriculars are lacking in almost every aspect and I can’t believe you’re even considering applying to a college. You should immediately withdraw your application! Good luck and have a happy fall!!
Should I wait for Harvard to schedule an interview with me or should I contact the university instead? I still havent received any emails yet and Im starting to worry.
Contacting them will not make them schedule interviews any faster, and the admissions office does not set up the interviews.
Is it bad that I check this thread daily lol
