Harvard SCEA 2024 Applicant Discussion!

Does Harvard send out EA Likely Letters? I heard UPenn sent some out.

Also, is there a Discord chat for Harvard SCEA 2024?

Only for athletic recruits.

Hey IK the thicker the file the thicker the applicant always stands.

I’m a journalist and included only 3 of my articles my application. Do you think this made my application thick in a bad way?

@Nxxx482 I would have picked The best one, but this wont be a reason for immediate rejection obviously. There are much better things to think/worry about. From the raw statistics, assume a deferral next week- no matter how good you are-and start proactively and productively planning more concrete aspects of your future (more match level apps, job/industry research, etc.) these things have helped me diminish waiting-related stress.

I have recently received a national award. I have been one of the 2 students selected from my state (each state selects 2) for the award. I just uploaded this as supplemental material to my REA application. Do you think it is too late? Like do you think that they have already looked over most, if not all, apps and have made decisions? Do you guys think the update I just sent them is useless? It is a pretty significant award and I’m a bit worried that it’s too late.

@Soccerninja This is not possible to answer. In about a week, you’ll know if you were accepted or not, but you won’t know why or why not. Some people will probably think it’s too late, some won’t, some will say one national award isn’t going to move the needle and others will say it can. All of them are right, and none of them are.

Take a deep breath, a hot shower, and make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy whatever is around you to enjoy (family, a pet, a puzzle, a book, a video game) and don’t be worried.

When will the results be released?

I think decisions are out sometime this week. I am so anxious I’ve been checking this thread everyday.

I’ve been checking it too. Is it true that it’ll be on Thursday when we find out?

I heard someone also said that it would be this Thursday. I find that I can do nothing this week. Harvard has been my dream since I was young. If I get in, I think I will cry like crazy.

I talked with my interviewer and he confirmed it’s on the 12th

My interviewer just contacted me 2 days ago about scheduling an interview and gave me dates before and after the 12th. He said admissions had just asked him that day to do the interview. What would be the point of an interview after the decisions come out?

A late interview at this stage initiated by the AO most likely means you are still being considered. I am surprised that the interviewer was given flexibility to do the interview and turn in the report after the 12th (really the 11th). So it is unlikely you will be rejected but you may be headed to the deferred list (but in a good way). Can you do the interview before the 11th?

Thank you for that information. Yes, I can do it on the 11th. My interviewer was giving me dates up until the 21st, so I was confused on how that even made sense when decisions come out the 12th.

Looks like either they are super confident that you will fit in and admit you on Dec 12th or you go to the deferred pool. In any event, do let us know what happens. Whatever happens is for the best

Last year it was Thursday, Dec 13th 2018 so assuming this year it will be Thursday again on December 12th 2019.

Has anyone gotten any update from Harvard regarding Early Action yet? I know that the results come out in Mid-December, so I’ve been checking my portal and my email but I haven’t seen anything new.

Harvard Admissions posted on Twitter that decisions are coming out Thursday, December 12th at 7 PM ET!!

Alright, they posted officially on their website that the result will released no earlier than 7 P.M. ET this Thursday.
