Harvard SCEA 2024 Applicant Discussion!

I’m so nervous! I have a 1400 SAT (which is far below Harvard’s average) but worked super hard in school, my extracurriculars and essays. If I get it’ll be a dream. If I don’t it’s ok. I am excited!!!

@dd8868 Harvard has a scoring system that rates candidates in 4 areas—academic, athletic, extracurricular and personal. Students receive a score of 1-4 (or 1-6 depending on which source you believe) with 1 being the highest. You will most likely score a 1 in academic. It’s what you receive in the other 3 categories that will make the difference. That, and what the needs of the class are this year: How many URM’s, how many legacies, and which hooks they need to round out their class.

@Timeflies222 @dd8868 Very, very few applicants each year get an academic rating of 1. Jut top scores will probably get you a 2, which is still good.

Only two days and one hour, holy

@lizardwizard9 you are right…
“ The Harvard documents report that an applicant who receives a “1” academic rating usually ‘has submitted academic work of some kind that is reviewed by a faculty member,’ while a candidate with a 2 academic rating typically has perfect, or near-perfect, grades and testing, but no evidence of substantial scholarship”.

Just wondering, my daughter noticed this statement on her portal: “ The midyear report is due upon completion of your first semester or by February 1 at the latest. For EA applicants, simply keep us up to date with your most recent set of grades.”

Did anyone send an update with their grades? Am I reading this right? Was she supposed to send an update?

When do the admission results for EA come out???

Harvard is releasing admission results at 7 PM EST on Thursday, December 12th.

best of luck to everyone tomorrow! we’ve all worked really hard throughout our educational careers and our applications and that hard work will pay off eventually, even if it isn’t necessarily this university. whatever happens, happens.
keep calm and love yourselves.

Thanks Zay123…I applied but less hopes of getting in.
I have interview with Harvard Alum last month it went very well…but you know its Harvard…

I never got an interview so that’s an auto deferral. The worst part is that I thought I was fairly competitive being a URM with a good overall application.

When did you get interview. Are you international. Which country have you been interviewed @sajju786

Did you get an interview. I’m domestic BTW

Wow… good luck everyone!! I received my acceptance 5 years ago today and I remember how special a time it is. Time flies! Now I have my Harvard med interview tomorrow.

Hello good day everyone, I am an international applicant to Harvard 2024 EA. I was not contacted for an interview and I fear that this is bad news. However I did apply to the class of 2023 and I received an interview then (decided to take a gap year to reapply). Ultimately I was waitlisted. Should I be worried that I didn’t receive an interview this time around?

I didn’t receive an interview either… and neither did one of my friends. We both just assumed it had to do with availability. Are our chances actually hurt if we don’t get an interview?

My S received his acceptance 5 years ago today. It is a day we will never forget. Still unbelievable and he graduated in May. lol Good luck to all of you and know whatever the decision, you will be juuuuust fine!

I’m in the same boat as @Lyrinia and @Reuelistic. I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet. I just assumed it wa s because of availability, but is it a serious problem? I’m an international applicant. So is it auto defer or do I still have a chance?

Wow 7 p.m…ET is 3:30 a.m. for me  I’m gonna diee

ahh i’ve been lurking for a long time & given that decisions are coming out soon i’m just feeling really nervous/restless so i wanted to wish everyone good luck!!! i hope that today/tomorrow (depending on time zone) goes well for you, and that you ultimately end up somewhere where you’re happy, whether it’s Harvard or another really great school :") we have worked very hard thus far and everyone here will do amazing things!!
