Harvard SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

Do you think admissions officers like their jobs? I feel like you would either love it or hate it. you would like it if you liked learning about other people and their stories, but I could see hating it because a lot of times teenagers tend to think they know all their is to life when they have barely even lived a quarter of it.

@tuty143 I would be great with that. The sooner the better.

still no interview, probably means i got rejected

@zoomloom Where do you live?

Mazal Tov,

All of your decisions have been made.

@verizonwireless ??

Yeah, at this moment they’ve probably already switched to full committee to work on the couple ambiguous cases- other than those everyone else’s decision is made.

@schroscat NC

@zoomloom Don’t worry! Maybe they just couldn’t find an interviewer in your area.

@zoomloom I did not have my interview until this past Monday. My interview apologized profusely, and tried to explain something about a system/website complication and that he missed my name because of it. I didn’t exactly understand what the error was, but it sounded like there is a new system that caused problems for some interviewers. I’m not sure if that is the case with your interview, but either way I would not consider the lack of interview a sign of rejection. The Harvard website even says, “…if an interview cannot be arranged, you will not be at a disadvantage during the application process.” I remember growing increasingly more concerned about not being contacted (especially since someone else from my school had their interview very early), and I understand how you are feeling. Just don’t let your spirits get down!

@zoomloom
Yeah, don’t worry about it! This year, Harvard instituted a brand new interview process and system, so it has been causing issues all over the place. I didn’t have an interview until this past Wednesday. You might still get one, and if you don’t there are a ton of people who didn’t either because of the system. I doubt the interview will be that important (if at all) this year because of this… :smiley:

@verizonwireless So did I get in or not? :wink:

@verizonwireless yeah!! did I get in? :slight_smile:

@verizonwireless Do you have AT&T?

So I will be in school when decisions are released (2pm PST, 5pm eastern; I’m west coast). Is anyone else in school during that time, and will check right away? I’m not sure if I have enough guts LOL

I will find out at 11pm, the day before an important chemistry exam. I guess I won’t be getting much sleep…

@kyuutoryuu I will be out of school (4 pm) but if I were finding out in school, I would wait until after. For me, when I find out bad news in school(which I’m not saying you’ll get I believe in you!) I feel worse trying to keep my emotions inside. On the same note, if I were to find out I got accepted in school, I would be so excited that I would tell other people and it would seem cocky.

@schroscat IDK… But at this point, all decisions are made

@TheWaffleMan149 Yea

I agree, maybe like 200 really ambiguous cases that really need to be discussed are still going on.

@QueenN22 aka mine lol
