what do you guys want to hear if you got deferred?? A LOT of people I know applied and some who got deferred keep asking me how I did and I don’t know what to say to them… I don’t want to be condescending and I don’t want to sugarcoat or get their hopes up but at the same time I don’t want to make them feel like crap 
If you got accepted then just say you’re in but be humble about it. Tell them that they’ll be successful no matter what, that Harvard would’ve been lucky to have them, but that it’s like a lottery. They can have hopes for the RD but shouldn’t hinge on it.
I think we need to remember that Harvard admissions is a crapshoot. Every year, a different pool of people are accepted. We need to remember that no matter what, we will succeed if we put in the work; it doesn’t matter whether we’re at Harvard, or any other school.
I had my girlfriend check my admissions and I told her not to give me any sort of signs based upon her emotions. I’m not checking until tonight with my fam, but she is being very unemotional. I think it might be in an attempt to keep from giving me a sign. I think if I got deferred she would be all encouraging and stuff. Hoping for the best lol

I’m from the Princeton SCEA thread and I want to congratulate everyone who got in!! I’m super nervous and you guys are lucky to already to know! Good luck to the deferred and rejected applicants with finishing other college applications!

Is it just me, or does anyone else not appreciate the whole “oh, dont worry if you dont get in, you’ll find a place that suits you” mumbo jumbo from people who are at your dream schools. It’s like- you’re already in, thats easy for you to say. It always hurts to feel like you’ve been betrayed. Maybe its a little dramatic, but most of everyone here clearly has invested a lot of time and energy to try and impress Harvard admissions the most out of all the schools.
All we can do is hope for the best for RD schools. GL to all.
Thanks to everyone to congratulated me and the other acceptees. I know none of you want to hear this especially from someone who just got in, but it’s all a lottery at this point. You are all amazing people and if only Harvard ha more beds, they would definitely take more of you
