Harvard SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@QueenN22 haha omg it almost deterred me too. It’s only drawback for me is that it’s catholic. I go to a catholic high school (do not consider myself religious, agnostic if anything lol) and I just really don’t want to spend another 4 years with that catholic presence. Although I’ve heard that the religious aspect is only there if you want it to be.

@tuty143 Same here. That’s actually one thing that I don’t like about BC. I have no problem with its religious history but since it is Catholic, you mostly get a Catholic or Christian based class. I would rather have a wide group of religions since religion is part of culture to some extent and different religions aid in different types of cultures. I would rather have a class where we are debating on the necessity of God than everyone agreeing that God is good and always there

@QueenN22 are we the same person?? You just voiced exactly how I feel all the time. anytime I try to ague against the existence of God, everyone pushes my valid opinions backed by legitimate arguments aside. Or basically with anything I say. I feel like college is a time for growth in all aspects of diversity, religious and non-religious so thats my biggest fear with a catholic/christian college.

@QueenN22 you have a very healthy attitude. I keep telling myself the same things but i don’t believe myself!

Do you think it works to my advantage that the two other students in my school that applied SCEA aren’t “qualified” students?

@tuty143  same, I was (am) raised in a fairly religious, and I do love God and Jesus and etc but I’m not into organized religion. I think it’s great to believe in a higher being but sometimes over years, people change what is said in order to fit their motivations. One thing I especially don’t take to is using the bible as justification for anything. At the end of the day, the bible is a storybook with chapters that were approved by the church. There are probably hundreds of books that didn’t make it in simply because it doesn’t serve the church. Also people tend to take whatever best fits for them. The same bible that condemns homosexuality promotes rape and slavery :-/

^^lets not talk religion or politics lol don’t call out the Bible please

@yuyumagic Oh thank you! I think the most important lesson that I learned in high school is LIFE MOVES ON. but that may be easy for me to say cause I have a chillax, let things flow kind of attitude

@QueenN22 my sentiments exactly! yes I definitely understand the beliefs of others and actually love hearing about them, but personally disagree with almost all that the Catholic church teaches aside from loving and genuinely caring for others.

@nsliyromanov sorry, I didn’t mean to insult anyone or anyone’s beliefs.
Although politics, social issues and religion are my favorite things to talk about, I agree that we shouldn’t discuss things like that here

@nsliyromanov yes sorry if i offended anyone

For the essay prompt about a transition from childhood to adulthood, I should have wrote about how my mother no longer makes me food, or worries whether I ate breakfast/dinner or when I fall asleep on the couch/floor, no one carries me up to my bed

Oh wow, we’ve reached 100 pages!

I was about to say that: happy 100 pages!

The fact that a week from now, all will be decided. How many pages you guys think we will hit? 250 is my guess, we better do a countdown

How many of you have received interviews?
