Harvard SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

GUYS WE ARE SLACKING!

@schroscat I’m sad this thread is dying… :frowning: I wan’t to keep being anxious with friends

@tuty143 it is our task to keep this thread alive!

AHHH ANXIETY NERVES DEFERMENT

What’re you guys going to do the day decisions come out (after school obviously)?

@orionsagittarius I hope they see my love for medicine and see how I plan to use it to pursue humanitarianism (doctors without borders). In my essays, I talked about my volunteer experiences with starving and diseased people in third world countries, my views on corrupt political systems, and experiences with corrupt politicians. I want the committee to know that I will try my best to use medicine and fight hopelessness.

@flautamagica cry in my room until 5:00

@flautamagica My schedule on Thursdays are short, so I’m dismissed at around 12:30 PM :/. I’ll hit the gym extra hard after that to appease my nerves. Then I’ll go home alone and view my decisions. If accepted, I’ll go out with friends, and if not I’ll just stay at home that day.

How about you?

Guys, under 500,000 seconds. Finally. I’ve been watching the clock ever since there were 7,000,000 seconds. We can do it!!! =D>

Which of these would you guys rather know right now and why:

  1. One good comment an officer made on your application based on which category you specify (essays or Recs or transcript etc.)
  1. Same as above but instead of good; they choose a bad comment (if applicable)?

@Sajidur4 I think a friend waiting the same day for the decision from Barnard and I are going to get some pho and ice cream and cry together hahaha. I might wait until 5:45 or 6 in case my results aren’t posted until later!!

Option 2! That way I wouldn’t get my hopes up

If I get deferred im going to call the admissions office and ask how I can improve my application.

@flautamagica you can do that?? What are they allowed to tell you?

@flautamagica I’m not sure if they’ll allow you to do that. That would be great though

I read an article about it and they said admissions officers are usually pretty nice about it. Here’s the link: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/2395749

I’d rather want to know a good comment; primarily because I’m already beating myself up for my application, so I’d like to hear one good thing.

@snackpack02 easily the bad. I need some closure on my negative aspects

Definitely option 1. In the last few days, I don’t want to stress out too much.

This sounds really depressing…but I don’t have any close friends in my grade. All my close friends were the grade above me (advanced curriculum) so I don’t have anyone to wait with. So I’ll probably go home and wait with my mom. I’m excited for college because I know I’ll make really good friends. But for now it’s a struggle because all the kids in my grade kind of already have their little cliques and I don’t really have a place in them. :frowning: I don’t really know why I even mentioned it here but I guess its nice to vent.
