Harvard, Stanford, Duke -- Chance me pl0x

I was always a bright student but didn’t put in a consistent effort during my Freshman and Sophomore years. This is going to hurt me, I know. C’s in Physics (H) and Bio (H). Then B’s in AP Environmental (took soph. year), Chem (H), English I (H) & English II (H), Alg2 (H).

I picked myself up and have shown that I do have brimming potential.

Objective:
• SAT I (breakdown): 2330 (retook, probably broke 2380+)
• ACT: none
• SAT II: 800 (Math II), 770 (Chem), 750 (US Hist.)
• Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.67 (pulled this up big time)
• Weighted GPA: 4.89
• Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Top 6% (from rank 290+ to Tops)
• AP (place score in parenthesis): Calc BC (5), US Gov (5), US History (5), Micro/Macro (5), Psychology (5), Comparative Gov (5)

-AP US History
-AP US Gov
-AP Comparative

-Honors English III.
~~I got all A’s taking 8 AP’s…even I don’t know how this happened. Just superhuman
• Senior Year Course Load:
-AP Bio
-AP Chem
-AP Eng IV
-Multivariable Calc at University

• Job/Work Experience: Tutoring

• Volunteer/Community service: ~ 400+ hours (like a boss). I am amazing at Interfaith and teaching religious stuff, which is my true passion.

• Summer Activities: Internship at Chemistry department at State university, summer courses, special foreign language and taking a religious class. Taught a class at my church and delivered sermons. Heavily involved in interfaith
• Essays: Excellent (wrote on my passions)
• Teacher Recommendation: Superb
• Counselor Rec: Good to Average (Don’t know very well, she’s doing like a billion recs)
• Additional Rec: None

Other
• State (if domestic applicant): Ultra secret
• Country (if international applicant): USA
• School Type: Competitive Public
• Ethnicity: South Asian
• Gender:M
• Income Bracket: 65K

I have done few extracurriculars, but I participated heavily in each. Interfaith is my true passion, as is religious studies.

I think I have a weakness for no science classes my junior year. I didn’t want to take any because I took 3 the previous year (Chem H, Phys H, APES). Other than that, those C’s definitely will kill me…but… where there’s a will, there’s a way :)

I am applying to Harvard, MIT (legacy), Caltech, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, NYU Stern, Duke, UMich, UIC, UChicago, Berkeley, UCLA, Rice, Vanderbilt, Brown, Cornell and Stanford along with a few state schools. I know some of the Ivy’s are a reach…but still…idk. Applying early to Harvard and to State school.

~_~ originally posted elsewhere…just seeing if I could get any replies here.

buuuuuump. ANYONE?

You are kind of liike some people I know- they have extremely challenging courses (you definitly do) but have not so great grades. I think you have a pretty good chance at your stretch schools. Your reach like Ivies, stanford, caltech etc will probably depend on your essay and recs. goodluck though

How do you get a C in honors Physics and get A in Calculus and take Multi variable at uni… I don’t get ppl like you lol

@Life2dmax: yeah, I took the hardest curriculum available to me. Should help :)

@ca2012: This is due to my carelessness and just not putting in the appropriate effort. Also, I’m really terrible at Physics, but good at Calculus…this is sort of hard to contrast but yeah
