Hi everyone, which essay topic/idea do you all think is more compelling?

I immigrated from a third world country to Canada and I discuss how on my trip back and after watching two movies my perspective is completely changed. I see all the cruelty that I was blind to before as a child.

An interview with me and how I feel currently, can be a bit pessimistic as I feel really lost and confused.

I’m also open to any feedback of how I could improve or make any of my ideas more focussed and concise. :)

I would avoid the whole “I’m so lucky and I feel so bad for the third-world country” essay. It’s cliched and done before a lot. The idea of an interview is not bad, but portray yourself if a good light!

@girlofcanada I agree with bioninja in that your first topic is a bit cliche, however, I would like to add that perhaps the second topic isn’t too great either. You must be very specific throughout your essay and it seems that a topic centered on your “lost and confused” feelings can be very vague…

I would recommend that you write a rough draft of both and decide which topic has more potential.

When you write these essays you want it to have a positive tone.

I do agree that the immigration essay is a bit cliche. Plus, coming from Canada, which isn’t exactly a third world country, the essay may appear a bit conceited.
