Harvard Transfer Thread?

yeah, I’m not holding out too much hope of getting off the WL. We’ll see though, miracles do happen…although at a place like Swat where “anywhere else it would have been an ‘a’” it’s unlikely

another waitlist

any acceptees or rejectees, or did they just waitlist all 1100 applicants this year?

by the way, the waitlist letter is almost exactly the same as last years freshman admit waitlist letter.

Rejected. Oh well. Best of luck to everyone who’s still on the waitlist, and congrats to anyone who got in!

Seems like waitlisting transfer applicants is popular in the Ivies this year. I recall seeing that the Dartmouth thread was full of waitlisted decisions, and I think Columbia was similar as well.

I wish they would just tell us how many people are on the waitlist!
Now we need to wait at least another 6 weeks!

at first i thought it was only around 10 or 20, but now i realize that it is probably more like 200

I got rejected! no big surprise tho

why does Harvard waitlist so many people… what is the point of it all … to tell us that we are qualified but there aren’t enough spots …

I wish Harvard didn’t HALF transfer admissions this year

So is anyone going to choose to not remain on the waiting list?

Decisions are up? O_o Where?

yeah no kidding about the halving thing…everyone knows transfers add so much to the college, and its just going to be that much harder for those who do get in to adjust. But I guess there are just too many people applying these days! Also I don’t see the point of waitlisting more people than they could possibly need to fill the spaces. At MOST they should waitlist 50 or so people, so that if not as many freshman matriculate they can fill some more transfer spots. But c’mon, if they WL 200 people like some people are saying…what on earth could possibly be the point of that?

to annoy you

it is a bit angering

out of those of us on the waitlist, how many had an interview?

i did.

Accepted (thank the Lord). Spring term (darn).

Guys, you all on the WL deserve to be in, would have gotten in last year, my heart goes out to you, especially with Stanford and Yale so especially hard this year too. The college application process can be brutal. I was WLed at Harvard the first time around. The chances were brutal this time, so if you were rejected, don’t feel too bad:

(from the email)

“This year over eleven hundred students applied for the forty places available for transfer students. With many more talented and highly qualified candidates than it has room to admit, the Admissions Committee takes great care to choose individuals who present extraordinary academic, extracurricular, and personal strengths. The Committee is convinced that with your outstanding qualities of mind and character you will make important contributions in college and to society.”

I will post stats and my thoughts later for all future students and for those interested. For those on the WL, sorry, but I think I will probably accepted the offer (didn’t get into Stanford or Yale), although I am still thinking. If you have any questions in the meantime, please PM me. WindCloudUltra, and any other Harvard transfers, I will probably PM you with some questions.

I wish everyone the best. If I can offer you one message for now, it would be to hope and persevere. Never give up. If you truly want to be accepted to Harvard, never settle, never become complacent, never stop working hard.

By all means! I hope you decide to come…And now that most of my papers are done (some poorly…ugg), I’m in the mood to answer questions!

I had an interview and I was waitlisted

windcloud, would u perchance know how many people they place on the waiting list?

waitlisted with interview
