@LondonVall I am wondering the same thing. So did I and I got in as well. I also saw the admitted students website link within the source code… Did @CIRCUITDEBATER also get in? They saw those things in their portal’s source code as well!
Wow just checked and congrats @CIRCUITDEBATER !! MAYBE the source code was already giving us hints?
@crimsondream22 i got in and saw some “blocked content” that i couldn’t access before decisions came out, including the admitted students link. i just assumed everyone had it when i saw it haha
@asaltyattic Same here. I think we just need someone who got either deferred or rejected who looked at their portal’s source code before the results came out to tell us whether they also had the HUID and the admitted students website link. If they didn’t, the HUID and the admitted students thing within the source code was already telling us we got in, and yet we brushed it off as something that everyone else also had in their portals.
Can any deferred people who looked at their portal source code before the results came out confirm?
Deferred applicant here. I checked prior, and I think all of those were in the source code. It doesn’t and didn’t have a link to it, it only has something that says “blocked_content” or something like that for each of them
cringeworthy
If almost everyone was deferred that is Harvard trying not to crush our dreams. I’ll advice all the deferred applicants who have not yet applied regular decision to other schools to spend these last few weeks doing so. Time to move on from Harvard.
@Izpare What is cringeworthy?
Congratulations to all those who have received an offer! I am an RD applicant and just sitting here and watching… and all those who are deferred or were rejected… just do not give up yet. Someone in that office might see something in you :)]
On that screen that has the 3 options for accept, defer, or reject admission, we have till May 1 to answer right?
Yes until May1.
I feel so bummed because, thanks to Trump’s travel ban, I won’t be able to get a tourist’s visa and come to Visitas.
@crimsondream22 Nooooooo that sucks!!
@crimsondream22 Have you talked with Harvard Admissions about this? They are “always” very helpful and may already have some insights regarding this issue. I did a quick Google search and found the following info yet I am not sure if Visitas or your situation fall outside the scope of this. BTW… Congratulations!
“The good news for universities is that international students and scholars who can establish a “bona fide relationship” to an American university should still be able to travel to the U.S. even with the Supreme Court’s partial stay of injunctions imposed by two lower courts.”
@Tobster18 exactly…
@andsometimesY Thank you for your concern. I really appreciate the googling you did for me. Actually, recently, the Supreme Court decided (without consideration of the merits of the case) to let the presidential proclamation isssued on September 24th regarding the travel ban (which bans issuance of ALL immigrant and nonimmigrant visas except student and exchange visas for Iranians) to go into FULL effect while the legislation for it continues in the lower courts — and which will 100% end up in front of the Supreme Court in early 2018. This means that until June, when the SCOTUS decides the final faith of the travel ban, even people who have “bona fide” relationships with the US cannot be exempted from the ban. It really sucks. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I will contact the admissions regarding this, but I don’t know if there is anything they can do about it.
@crimsondream22 Gosh, sorry to hear this YET definitely call Harvard, you just never know. Also, bear with me, I know enough about this topic to be dangerous. I just found an update from Nov. 13th (I pm’d the links to you) which states that students from Iran with F/M/J student visas are exempt from this proclamation. Am I understanding it correctly or missing something?
@andsometimesY All current visa holders (be it a student visa, diversity visa, etc.) and green card holders are exempt from the ban. The ban is targeting people who want to obtain any visas other than F, J, and M visas. I need a B visa (visitor’s visa) to be able to attend Visitas, which means I can’t come. And no, I can’t get my F visa in advance just to attend Visitas. F visas let students enter the US only 30 days prior to the beginning of their first semester. I honestly appreciate the wealth of information you have concerning this issue (or all the research you did regarding this for me). Thank you!! <3
@crimsondream22 Makes sense. You’re officially not a student yet so you cannot obtain a student visa. The ban seems to be continually changing so “hopefully” it changes enough, in the next few months, so you can attend.
@andsometimesY Yeah, I hope so!
@crimsondream22 FWIW, I did not attend Visitas, although I did attend accepted students weekend at other colleges. IMO, you’re not missing much.
The important thing is that you can get a visa to attend college. If things change, and you are able to travel for Visitas, great. If not, no big deal.
