Dartmouth did take students off the wait list this year. I’ve seen multiple posts confirming it.
Then at least waitlisted students at Dartmouth now have clarity. Was Dartmouth in the exact same legal predicament as Harvard though? If Harvard closes its waitlist I hope they notify waitlist students soon.
Harvard is in worse waters than any of the other ivies (excluding Columbia).
That’s odd. I did not get an e-mail and my Dartmouth portal is still the same from March 27. What does this mean?
I was referring to Dartmouth, not Harvard.
I honestly believe the next and final wave will be around August 7/8. First year registration is due August 14 and this wave needs time to accept and register for classes. The international students also have a deadline of July 31 to defer or not. So Admissions will have final picture and then deliberate for that week between July 31 and August 7/8.
lol the reason why i ask someone else on here to call is bc ive called and i get the same icy answer each time- we don’t know, but some ppl get real answers, so it’s good to stack them up and see how it comparws
They should just tell everyone on the waitlist to expect a final update between 7/31 and 8/8. In their email, they used the word “summer”, saying the waitlist process would continue into the summer. It’s disappointing that an elite university can’t give a more definite timeline. I understand they face uncertainties, but asking students to wait until just 1–2 weeks before school starts is pushing it too far.
So do you think that there will be a wave this week or next week?
it’s actually cruel although we shouldn’t expect anything out of the waitlist.
Yeah, the whole situation is unfortunate for those on the waitlist. Even though the waitlist is often a “soft rejection,” it feels like this year will have more movement, and hence there’s a greater sense of hope—even though the wait is getting more grueling by the day. Interestingly, the gap between the REA decisions and the RD decisions is smaller than the gap between the RD decisions and today.
lol that’s acc insane someone gotta tell harvard they gotta release this soon
Respectfully, I don’t think it’s effective to continue hoping others will contact Harvard on our behalf—whether through email or phone.
Earlier today, I personally emailed Harvard to acknowledge the unprecedented situation they’re navigating, while also urging them to provide waitlisted families with more clarity on when final decisions will be released.
If we genuinely want to improve communication and bring some clarity to this exhausting wait, I strongly encourage everyone on this forum to send a similar email. We can’t keep hoping that someone else will take the lead—this is something we all need to advocate for together.
i would be willing to do so, but are they able to track if i sent from a spam email?
They do not have the time or the inclination to do so
Hypothetically, if we were to hope that somehow Harvard would release another wave of waitlist students in July, when exactly would you guess that would be? This week? Next week? Would there be a certain day of the week? I know it is just guessing but ……
I don’t think they check the general e-mail frequently.
Nobody except Harvard knows. That’s why I’m asking everyone on this thread to send an email to them as well.
Would a bunch of emails really help the matter though? I seriously doubt they’d provide one person with info out of 50 or 100 or however many people are on this thread. Would they not have some script to copy and paste or at least stick to? If they haven’t been helpful in the past I bet they’ll keep straying away from giving details no matter how many email.
It doesn’t hurt at the least.
