Harvard Waitlist Thread 2029

Actually, I think they might have underenrolled. Kinda. See, there were a LOT of waitlists on March 27th, but I noticed that many people were getting rejected in waves over the times. I wouldn’t be surprised if the waitlist is like 50 or fewer now.

If not Thursday, then Friday. The logistics just don’t make sense to push this past Friday. I my consider withdrawing my application at this point, which is funny since I had decided to wait for my decision with unwavering conviction.

Me too. If it gets past Friday with no decision I can’t financially afford to change my plans :frowning:

I thought people only got rejected during the earliest wave, and there have been none since?

Someone said this but Harvard’s enrollment is from the 12th-14th so I think they have to make their decisions by this week or else admitted waitlisted students won’t have time to accept before enrollment

That’s unsurprising to me, as I’m guessing their yield this year was lower than typical

(I turned them down so I was a part of that lol)

Given the amount of people on this thread who are on the waitlist (and probably a small percentage of waitlistees set up an account on this specific website to comment on this thread), I’d imagine the waitlist is much bigger. I’ve seen people on various social media websites talking about being on this waitlist. I have no idea why it would be so big if there are only X number of slots available in the best/worst case scenario, but I doubt it’s as small as you say

I think we all simply want more transparency from Harvard—even though this is certainly not an ideal situation, it would be appreciated if there is a wave (rejections and acceptances) sometime this week (fingers crossed for Thursday or Friday).

Where did you see multiple waves of rejections? I’ve only heard of one wave happening.

I only remember one round of rejection as well. I previously guesstimated 250-300 remaining on the WL. But there could have been some natural attrition since then.

Has anyone been able to call and ask if a wave will come on Thursday/Friday (or when we can expect news in general)?

Pizza Pasta

I hear you 100 percent.

I think Harvard would also appreciate having a government that is not trying to dictate what they can teach.

Does not mean it is going to happen though.

If someone has mentioned 10 years ago that the United States government would be meddling with Harvard’s curriculum, it would have been rejected as too bizarre for a movie script. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I agree—it’s a difficult situation for Harvard to navigate, but I hope that the Admissions Office is still able to provide some transparency and give decisions.

I wonder if Jack Davis has any information on a wave (given that he seems to know the most about the process + personally know some Admissions Officers).

Does Jack Davis know admissions officers? I wasn’t aware of thaat.

I don’t know “know” the AOs. I know their names, never spoken to them personally. My counselor from my HS I graduated from does have contact with them. If I do have any info I’ll post it here.

wanted to post to signify that this is now the longest (both in terms of time and # of posts on a cc forum) a harvard waitlist has still gone on :100:

(previous record by the 2024 waitlist closing on 8/5 with 1148 posts)

also, for my opinion, I think it is very likely that everyone (including me) will be rejected off the waitlist this coming thursday or friday. these circumstances are pretty similar to the 2024 waitlist and to my knowledge everyone got rejected off first week of august😔

If Harvard had spots they would be filing them asap. they’re not sitting around waiting for the right day of the week or deliberating on who to take off the list. the fact that they’re not taking kids off the list means that they don’t have spots. It’s foolish to think otherwise.

I understand what you’re saying, but wouldn’t it make more sense for them to close the waitlist altogether at this point? There hasn’t been any movement so far, and with orientation just a few weeks away, you’d expect they’d want to finalize everything and shift their full focus to processing logistics for the incoming class.

Uhhh no they wouldn’t. I’m not sure if you know, but the Admissions Team likes to claim that they carefully curate a specific class for ech year. They don’t want to let a bunch of people in just for the spite of it.

I thought about whether Harvard is keeping the waitlist open only to react to a scenario in which the admin suddenly mass revokes F-1 visas.

However, with news of international students being on the waitlist, that simply can’t be the case.

If the waitlist was simply a backup for a mass F-1 visa revocation scenario, there would be no international students on the waitlist, as that would be pointless.

The presence of international students on the waitlist leads me to believe that movement is likely this week.
