Harvard...Yale...MIT...Why?

Throughout my life i’ve always wanted to go to a selective college such as harvard yale, or mit. Just now ( My junior year in high school) have i begun to ponder my likings. Why do i want to go to one of these prestigious schools anyway? For the name? Is that IT? I’m in the IB Program in Texas and they UT offers 24 hours of credit for anyone in the IB program while harvard and the likes policies only allow 1 credit per 6,7(highest grades) on a limited number of IB tests. I’ve found that lesser known colleges offer more credit, so why not just go to a lesser one? I dont know much about college, i dont know if its fun or not, I just feel like i should get it over with and it will be extremely hard so im trying to get through it as fast as i can so i can go to dental school and become a dentist fast and get on with life.

so ,

Why these selective colleges instead of less-selective?
and
2.Is college really as hard as i think it is? And do other people in college feel like they want to get on with life and graduate?

thx :)

From the sound of it, you’re only chasing the name. DON’T do that. Check out the colleges and make sure it’s where you want to go. You’re state college may not be as “prestigious” but you might be happier there.

It depends. College can be as easy or challenging as you make it, especially if you go to a state school.

beacause you want to make the ppl around you look at your academic record and gasp with awe… that’s why we even bother to go to college, for our self-esteems

yea, no… not at all

HPYM offers the same ups and downs as any college when eveyrhting is taken into consideration. a college that fits YOU is so hard to determine that sometimes it’s just easier (and of course better… on some ocassions) to choose thos prestigious institutions…

Your success in life equals who you are… not where you’ve been
so find the one that will help mold you the best and not one that will stand out in your personal history
