Harvard

If I go to the Harvard Summer School, and take Calculus I & II, and do well in them, will this increase my chances of getting into Harvard (or for that matter, MIT)?

no because most likely you’ll take BC Calculus anyway in senior year and it’ll be wasted money…maybe if you took some classes that triggered your interests, classes that your high school doesnt offer

I see what you are saying, but my high school only offers AB Calculus. Besides, it’s at Harvard, and I would take multivariable in my senior year at a local college, not repeat what I took in the summer.

Take something related to what you want!

If you’re interested in Engineering, take Mechanics, Electronics, etc.

JMHO.

What about Physics? It is 8 units and covers two semesters of college physics. What I am wondering is: Will it look better that it was taken at Harvard (assuming I go well in it) when I apply to Harvard or MIT next year?

I really don’t know.

But for MIT, I’m dead sure that they want someone different, so taking technical electives would certainly increase your chacnces.

Taking College Physics might prove useful for placement purposes, though.

It will be looked at the same whether you take it at Harvard or at your local CC.

oh dont be one of those losers who takes courses at a local college. they pretend like it takes mad intelligence to do that (it does, but its overrated).
