Has anybody gotten a "C" and still got accepted to UF?

Has anybody gotten a “C” in 1 course for the entire high school term and still got accepted to UF?

Yes, I had a C in a Language Arts Transfer class but it was because of a mistake, but it stayed on my transcript.

I had 6 C’s and 2 D’s on my transcript and I still got accepted last year. =)

i have had several Cs throughout high school, in spanish and math classes
and i got accepted

These are SEMESTER grades… btw (GPA’s calculated the same way UF does)

At the end of my Freshmen year I had a 1.87 GPA, weighted AND unweighted (I was not taking any weighted classes, so regular ed). I had 2 F’s, 2 D’s, and 5 C’s for various classes in both semesters. I went into Dropout prevention in sophmore year and had to take make up night classes after I turned 16. Even in sophmore year it was hard to stay focused until after the first semester. I was constantly partying, dating, doing drugs, and crazy things until I came to a point when I said that I needed to focus on my future and not my popularity.

By the end of my Sophmore Year I had a 3.2 GPA and by the end of my Junior Year I had a 3.5 and was taking AP’s.

Needless to say I have a GREAT grade trend and proved that anyone can rise from a failure to a stellar student accepted to UF. I wrote about the trials and challenges I had to overcome in my essay and UF resume.

My UFGPA was a 3.56 when I got accepted.

Many people have told me it was unfair I got accepted with “low” stats but it is all relative in my opinion. I have had to overcome A LOT and believe that I add diversity to the class. I worked hard to turn my life around, the same amount of work the rest of these people put into their grades. Grades alone cannot tell someone how mature and intelligent I am. If UF accepted only the people with highest grades then all of them would be the same. I know if it weren’t for the holistic portion of the admissions process I would never have gotten in and for that I am grateful because UF understands the challenges people like me have had to face.

Good for you mystifire. Stay on track

Just don’t slack off too much in college. I’ve seen a lot of people from my high school get cocky because they’ve survived the school’s IB program, apparently forming the mentality that if they can live through IB, they can survive through anything. They usually end up skipping class and are surprised when they get their test scores back with low grades. Some of them ended up dropping a few classes due to their poor performance.
