Which one would you recommend the most? How does Ronald White Jr’s “A. Lincoln: A Biography” compare to the others?

My husband read the first 4 volumes of the 7 volume set by Carl Sandburg titled Abraham Lincoln. He enjoyed them.

DH is a Civil War & Lincoln buff & liked the Ronald White bio. He thought it had new info that wasn’t contained in other bios he’s read.

In the 7/15/09 *New Republic/i, Princeton historian Sean Wilentz writes at length about some of the many recent books on Lincoln, including the White bio.

P.S. Many years ago I read the much-praised David Herbert Donald bio and found it very worthwhile. The thing about Lincoln is that he’s so large and complex a figure that no one book seems big enough to contain him.
