Has anyone been invited to an event, but was rejected in the end?

<p>I was just curious because I have received a “University Day Reception” invite for College of Arts and Science. I sent an RSVP since I live in New Jersey, but if I get denied would I still be able to go? That would be pretty cruel on NYU’s behalf if they would do that.</p>

<p>uuuhhh my university day reception card specifically said “for students admitted to the class of 2011” verbatim. so i’m pretty positive ur not gonna be rejected in the end. ur acceptances might be rescinded if u start to fail some classes tho…</p>

<p>I do realize it says “for students admitted to the class of 2011”, but we haven’t received official decisions yet, meaning it could still say i’m denied and thus not letting me attend University Day Reception.</p>

<p>a lot of people called the number at the bottom of the card and asked if this meant that they were admitted…and the general answer seemed to be “yes” =]</p>

<p>why do i have a feeling that all these top notch applicants were put into GSP due to the fact that NYU knows that NYU is not the major school that top notch students would attend… just my theory</p>

<p>I called the admission officer and she told me that the ACCEPTED students receive the Reception invite… if you received it, you are DEFINATELY IN</p>

<p>Yesterday I called the number at the bottom of the CAS University Day Reception invitation and the lady said it is definitely an acceptance…you’re in!!</p>

<p>sometimes the invitations come before the decisions. you’re in - they’re not inviting rejected students…</p>

<p>is that university day reception just for GSP kids, or is it for everyone? Are early decision kids invited as well?</p>

<p>It should say on your card for which school it is.</p>

<p>I called them today and I asked them if I could still be denied. They said “That’s not possible, if you got an invitation, you’re in.”</p>
