Has anyone taken a trip to Cyprus?
How was it? Would you recommend?

My son and daughter-in-law were there a few months ago. They really enjoyed it. I’ll see if they have any suggestions.
I went for a wedding a couple of years ago. It’s lovely, as are of course a number of other Mediterranean islands. I’d probably choose an island based on ease of getting to/costs tbh.
We found we needed a car to rent if you don’t just want to hang out on the beach and in town (both towns do have a fair amount to see, from cathedrals and old Roman (I think) ruins to museums etc). I only really spent time in Larnaca and Paphos, but we spent a couple of days exploring the areas around each (hence the car) as well.
Not sure where you’re flying from but I flew BA, connecting to Larnaca from LHR and flying back via there from Paphos - saving some time in not having to drive back again just to go to the airport.
It was a number of years ago so can’t offer any specific advice, but I can say that I had a lovely time.
Oh, one tip I will give is that the normal advice not to change money and just use ATMs doesn’t work so well in Cyprus. A lot of the ATMs charge hefty fees (not the fees your bank might reimburse).
It isn’t just Cyprus where some ATM operators have started doing things like adding large exchange rate surcharges in addition to fees, probably because exchange rate surcharges are less obvious to the user. Changing money in general anywhere seems to be an easy place to get a bad deal if you are not very careful (i.e. if you want to change money ahead of time in the eurozone or Turkiye, be careful there as well, even with ATMs).
