Has anyone done UofT [Toronto] undergrad and gotten into a US med school?

Hi! I’m a current US citizen who’s hoping to do their undergrad at University of Toronto. I was wondering if there’s been any US citizens that have done so, and were interviewed and maltriculated into a US med program?

Thank you!

I don’t know one personally, but I’m sure there have been.

US medical schools accept Canadian university credits and grades as equivalent to US transcripts.

I’d recommend, though, that you get some US shadowing and clinical experience to supplement any clinical activities done in Canada. US medical school adcomms will want to know that you’re familiar with the US multi-payer/private insurance healthcare system.

Thank you so much! I will see if I can get a US certification for phlebotomy or a CMA so I can work during my summers!

Good Luck on your medical journey!

I know or have known a couple of people who did undergrad at U of Toronto and then did some form of graduate school in the US. One then got a master’s at Stanford. The other then did a master’s and a PhD at Princeton. Both were very academically strong students (and have done well since). Neither however was in a field even remotely related to medicine.

I know a few other people who did undergrad at a different university in Canada and a graduate program in the US. None went to medical school. One is currently getting a PhD in a biomedical field in the US.

I would be concerned about the alleged grade deflation at U of T.

Are you currently a high school senior? If so then what other acceptances do you have? If not then we could also suggest other universities to consider.
